Miniature Horses Get A Helping Hand

105 Miniature Horses were voluntarily turned over to the Houston SPCA by their owner who was overwhelmed and could no longer care for them due to the economy.

My husband and I went over yesterday to lend a helping hand and take a few halters.

Some of the little ones are in really poor condition. After they are all vet checked, for the first couple of days they will receive a diet of  fresh hay and then slowly introduced to grain.

The SPCA is in need of halters and lead ropes for these little ones. Of course donations are appreciated too. You can donate online at  or snail mail at  Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Drive, Houston, TX 77024 and in Memo on your check put Minature Horse Donation. This will ear mark your  donation for feed and other supplies required to take care of the minis.

In several weeks the SPCA will be looking for permanent homes as well as foster homes for some of these little guys.

They also have quarter horses and other breeds that are in need and ready to go to homes now. Please give this need some serious thought and pass it on to others that you feel might be able to lend a helping hand to any of these horses.

My husband and I are going back to the facility Saturday to help and will keep everyone posted with updates here on the blog.

Please keep all these horses, the people that are caring for them and their prior owner in your prayers.
